Never Happened!

After a week of riots across the Islamic World, Newsweek Magazine retracted a story that stated US Interrogators at Guantanamo flushed a copy of the Qu'ran down a toilet to "unsettle" detainees. The reason given for the retraction was the source of the story was "no longer sure" the incident actually took place.

The retraction came after seven days of Pentagon pressure.

As I read the story, my Bullshit Detector bent its little needle around its post, and then proceeded to send off sparks. The odour was well beyond foul.

Later on, I made the mistake of tuning into Scarborough Country, whilst by-passing Greta Van Susteren and the Traveling Celebrity Trial du Jour. Big Joe was practically foaming at the mouth as he spoke of "American lives being put at risk" because of the Newsweek story.

Then Scottie "I'm a Happy Bottom" McCleland re-quoted Ari "If My Lips Are Movin', I'm Lyin' my Ass Off" Fleischer:

"People must be very careful about what they say...."

He went on to say that the Newsweek Article HURT AMERICA'S IMAGE!!!!!

That made me laugh so hard I blew sake through both nostrils.

Then Big Joe went on to further opine that the Newsweek Article had, in fact, incited the week-long riots. That the violence had nothing to do with Republicans or American Foreign Policy. It was ALL Newsweek's fault for publishing an article without checking the facts.

They really oughta change the name of the show to
Scarborough Planet,

because Big Joe is WAY THE FUCK OUT THERE!
