10/25/05Expanding the ConflictLooks to be a great weekend for billable hours.The Bushies machinations are finally doing something positive for the local D.C economy, injecting mega-dollars into the ermine-lined pockets of a platoon of Merc Attorneys, the likes of which the World has seldom witnessed.By now it should be crystal clear to anybody paying attention, the Bushies are in Panic Mode. It is absolutely imperative for their long-term survival that some sort of massive distraction occurs in the upcoming week.Hurricane Wilma is a definite watch-and-see, as it threatens not only Florida, but the entire Eastern Seaboard, which has already seen record rainfall in the past weeks.I suspect that the current climate calls for something larger in the way of a distraction. Larger and longer-lasting. Perhaps an expansion of the Iraq Clusterfuck into that Land of Hope and Opportuninty, Syria.Hopefully, Fitz will unload a blizzard of indictments that unleashes a thorough cleansing, TOP to Bottom . Once that is accomplished, the serious work of cleaning up George W. Bush's mess must begin in earnest. A restoration of our rights under Habeus Corpus would be a good place to start. In fact, the REPEALING of the so-called PATRIOT act should be given top priority. Even before the televised Treason Trials.

This Land Is My Land In the next few weeks Congress will be voting on a budget bill that will allow oil drilling in one of America's last great, wild places.......Alaska's Arctic Refuge. Shamelessly exploiting the tragedy of Hurricanes Rita & Katrina, Dubya and his oil cronies are pressuring Congress to hand his irreplaceable national treasure over the the Oil Industry. The best way to meet America's energy needs is to make America more energy efficient by,among other things, demanding higher mileage standards on the still exempt SUV's.NOT by allowing the oil industry to loot and despoil America's greatest wildlife sanctuary for what is estimated perhaps at best nine months supply of oil. Alaska's Arctic Refuge is home to polar bears, arctic wolves and thousands of caribou. Don't let Dubya and his greedy partners in crime destroy our children and grandchildren's heritage so they can rake in a few more dollars. Once destroyed, this national treasure will be forever lost to future generations. Support the National Resources Defense Council and send a message to your representatives in Congress.
